The greatest event of democracy in ITB

I’ve just go home from ITB. I’ve been watching the electoral counting to elect a President for “Keluarga Mahasiswa (KM) ITB” (I don’t know how to say those in English, maybe “Student’s Association”? I dunno ^_^). The thrill in that place is so great that I want to write now to share my experience.

The air was thick with spirits of change and the thrill to win the election. All elements of the campus are moving forward, with their own intentions and goals, with great spirit. The air was thick with competition. Just like the last election. ITB students are moving to succeed the greatest event of democracy in this year.

But what makes it great is that the candidates are competing with good sportivity. As far as I can see today, as the place is filled with strong compassions and desires to win, the place is filled with gladness too. I could still hear the laughter. I could still see the smile on everybody’s face. Very very democratic! I love my campus!

Well, maybe there are bad intentions and doing from all sides these days. But today I see nothing more than the eagerness to succeed the election. And it’s good.

Well, I’m just glad to see that democracy still live in this campus. Frankly, lately I’ve been worried with many bad rumors that this year’s election will not be as good as before, but now I know that the rumors were untrue. In fact, I see that maybe this election will be better than the previous ones. We all hope so, don’t we?

Hmmm, I think I’ve pushed myself to write too hard. It’s half past twelve in the evening, I’m so tired and yet I’m still typing. Now I’ve felt too tired. Maybe I’ll take a rest now. The counting is still in progress. Two candidates are running for each other just as I type. The difference is so little that I can’t even predict who will win. I’ll just say: Good luck. May the God be with us. May He show us the best way for us (ITB). Amen.

Oh, yes, I nearly forgot. There is a chance that a history will be written here today. From the three candidates who run for the election, there is a strong female candidate now. Maybe this is just common at other places, but in ITB, this is new. Never has a female candidate race with a male competitor to run for the top this tightly before. If she win, she will be the first female president of our student university. That’s a history. So there’s a chance that a history will be written here today, as the counting is still in progress.

Anyway, whoever wins takes the prize. It may be anybody. If somebody wins, then he/she is the best. All must accept that. Good luck for all candidates. May the best win!!!
